News Philosophy:
I'm a storyteller. I love to tell stories that express the humor, the joy or even the pain common to all people. Good news stories help people feel connected to their neighbors. Good news stories lift up those things that are worthy of praise and expose those things that should be changed. It's not my job to make those judgments but to give viewers all the information so they can draw their own conclusions.

Hobbies, Interests & Community Involvement:
I play guitar, draw pencil portraits, play basketball and spend time doing whatever my kids want me to do. I produce a weekly one-hour television broadcast of the worship services at a local church.

Wife and four children; one dog, Snowy, an Eskimo spitz

This is where my family is. My mother, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and in-laws are all within a 30- to 40-minute drive.

Most Memorable Assignments:
Story assignments have taken me to Scotland in search of Tar Heel ties to that country, to New Zealand looking for touristy things to do and to Saudi Arabia in the days leading up to the Gulf War.
