Republican presidential candidate John McCain is making his first campaign stop in North Carolina in several months. He last appeared before N.C. voters in May at Wake Forest University.

Memorial dedication held for Nancy Cooper
Family and friends of a slain Cary mother gathered Sunday for a small ceremony. Nancy Cooper was found strangled in an undeveloped subdivision three miles from her home.

New UNC chancellor installed
Holden Thorp was installed at a ceremony Sunday at Polk Place. The public ceremony continues the tradition of installing chancellors on University Day, Oct. 12, the birthday of the oldest state university.
