keep your eyes open for these !
Published Dec. 5, 2008Saw this story this evening on the WRAL website, and figure it can't hurt to mention it to the GOLO'ers that may have missed the original story at "Horses reportedly stolen from Johnston home"
I know it seems like stories of thivery and robbery increase this time of year, but ..Horse Thieves?! Anyway, here's hoping someone out there will recognize these beautiful creatures and help return them and get the "hoss thieves" put into the hoosegow.

Hoosegow? You mean we don't hang horse thieves anymore?
Hmmm, maybe that's part of the problem. . . .

My first reaction was resale, but with economy the way it is, and as you say people with horses already who can't afford to feed them, I would think the market is not that great right now. There are horses being given away b/c the owners simply can't afford them. So why steal???
I hate a thief. I really do.

I'll definitely be keeping my eyes open. I hope the owners have posted notices with auctions. Also, any horse sites that list horses for sale.
This time of year, people will steal anything, I think. I hope they are able to find these horses and get them back to their proper owner.

Draft horses are notoriously gentle and good natured, and if they're pastured wearing halters, I can see where they would be very easy to steal.
