where do you "track-out?"

Good morning year-round parents:

I'd like to start a list of interesting track-out camps and thought it would be a good idea to start here. I've taken my daughter to the YMCA, which she enjoys and Marbles Kids Museum, which she LOVES.

I'm finding that our track2 is a little tough with the summer schedule and tracking out mid-August but I'm hopeful that more camps will catch on and better accomodate our schedule.

So, where have you let your children "rack-out?"

The North Carolina Museum of art has a new track out program. Go to http://ncartmuseum.org/events/trackout.shtml for more info.

I disagree about the state paying for anything like YMCA. There are scholarships for those who need help with programs, perhaps this can be inquired about.

If they make all Wake County go mandatory year-round more programs will open up. As of now, year round is NOT mandatory and if you prove a hardship they will move you child.

"start making people who move here pay a 5 percent higher tax"

that would be about..uhhh 99% of the state...at what point are you considered a resident and don't have to pay 5% more, with your plan?

My kids went to the YMCA when I worked for others, when I work for self they hang out with me at home or office (have their own space).

They went to the YMCA they did trackout and before and after there. It was expensive, after we got more settled I made it a point to donate for scholarships to YMCA programs.

My kids are active in things they are interested in, but I don't push them to be in every sport that comes along. Both have participated in Raleigh Parks and Rec programs in the past, and daughter is getting ready to go to her first away church camp next week at Wake Forest University. I trust few, but DO trust the pastor's wife.

Angela - when we did the YMCA their were various discounts offered for different things.

With 6 years age difference, now that son is in modified high school schedule and daughter was moved to Track 4 our lives are much easier than when they were on 2 opposite schedules for 3 years.

you can also go to the skate ranch on trawick. they do track-out

and pooh i can afford them but gymnastics, ballet and camps are NOT a requirement to raise a child and if you think that you need your head examined, as long as they are fed clothed, housed an loved, thats all that matter, everything is else is extra

hey pooh parents shouldnt be forced into year round school. PERIOD,my pet peeve is people acting like they know garbage when they dont. I have money but I dont plan on wasting it cause their are to many people in this heck hole of a state my kids are already in gymnasics and ballet. i pay 200.00 a month for that

As far as money goes, I'd rather have to pay every quarter than have a child sitting around for 3 months stuck in something they really are not interested in and as pooh stated, I made em, I have to provide for them. Thats my job til they're 21 or 31 or until I die in some form or another.

Next track out for mine is going to be Tiger karate, then knightdale dance or gymnastics, then arts and pottery, finally swimming...I love that they get the chance to switch up every 9 weeks and try new things. Then she can decide which one she wants to stick with or try again.

by the way, complaints about the cost of caring for your own kids is at the top of my list of pet peeves.
