LADSON, S.C. — Force Protection delivered more than 100 of its high-tech armored vehicles to the Pentagon in August, the company said Tuesday.
The total set a record for monthly production and delivering numbers “well above what was required by contract,” Force Protection (Nasdaq: FRPT ) added in a statement. Through August 31, Force Protection is 14 vehicles ahead of schedule.
The vehicles, known as Cougars and Buffalos, are designed to defend occupants against improvised explosive devices, mines and other explosives.
Force Protection is also building a plant in North Carolina for vehicle production.
The company is working with General Dynamics Land Systems in a joint venture designed to increase production.
