Morrisville, N.C. — Centice, a medical device and diagnostics startup, has closed on $11.3 million in financing.
Among the investors is The Aurora Funds, which is based in Durham.
Centice has licensed technology developed at Duke University for use in spectroscopy, which is the study of the interaction between light and matter.
Its latest patent covers methods and systems for making spectral measurements on weak diffuse resources while at the same time maintaining high resolution.
Centice utilizes multimode multiplex spectroscopy developed at Duke. The technology has led to development of molecular analyzers with high sensitivity. Spectroscopy is used for material identification, quantitative analysis and quality control.
To date, Centice has applied for more than 20 patents.
The News & Observer reported the Centice funding on Friday.
