SciFi special focuses on Gears 2, Epic Games
The SciFi Channel will offer an inside view of how “Gears of War 2” was created on Thursday at 11 p.m.
Gears, which was created by Epic Games in Cary, is the focus of the show “Sci vs. Fi: Gears of War 2.”
Among those being interviewed are lead designer Cliff Bleszinski and Mike Capps, Epic’s president.
The game goes on sale at midnight. The first Gears sold more than 5 million copies since it launched two years ago.
Epic and Microsoft Game Studio, the publisher of the original gears in 2006 as well as the new version, also will host a variety of “Submergence Day” at various locations in the U.S. and in London. In the game, a team of battle-hardened warriors confronts the Locust Horde that emerges for another attempt to conquer mankind.
Among the launch events in the Triangle is one at the Best Buy near Epic’s headquarters in Cary. More than a dozen of Epic’s development team will be on hand to sign autographs and give away gears-related prizes. The game goes on sale at midnight.
