Morrisville, N.C. — Telecommunications software and gear maker Tekelec (Nasdaq: TKLC) is about to get some additional Wall Street exposure.
Standard & Poor’s said on Friday that it would add Tekelec to its S&P SmallCap 600 after trading closes on Oct. 3. Tekelec will replace Sciele Pharma (Nasdaq: SCRX), which is being acquired.
The SmallCap 600 includes firms with market capitalizations between $250 million and $1.5 billion.
Tekelec shares traded up 18 cents at $15.04 Friday morning.
The firm’s market cap is $990 million, according to Yahoo! Finance.
