Research Triangle Park, N.C. — Chris Brodie, a scientist and editor, is joining the North Carolina Biotechnology Center as its vice president of corporate communications.
Brodie is no stranger to the triangle or North Carolina’s life science industry. He has spent the past five years as an associate editor at American Scientist magazine. It is published by Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Society, which is based in RTP.
“Chris Brodie brings a valuable blend of solid scientific background, smart sensibility and leadership skills,” said W. Steven Burke, senior vice president of corporate affairs at the Biotech Center.
Brodie earned a PhD in molecular, cellular, developmental biology and genetics at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. He also has conducted post-doctoral research in neurobiology at Duke. He received a National Research Service Award from the National Institutes of Health.
A graduate from the University of Georgia, Brodie is a Fulbright Scholar and will spend four months teaching science communications at the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.
