Army Orders $22.3M in Vehicles from ForceProtection
The U.S. Army has ordered 29 “Buffalo” armored vehicles from ForceProtection in a deal worth $22.3 million, the company said Thursday.
The high-tech Buffalos are the largest vehicles made by ForceProtection. They are designed to protect personnel from improvised explosive devices, land mines and other threats.
ForceProtection is remodeling a facility in Roxboro, N.C. to build a smaller line of vehicles called Cheetahs.
More than 140 Buffalos have been delivered to the U.S. military. The Buffalos come equipped with a large robotic arm for removal of explosive devices. ForceProtection has delivered more than 1,000 vehicles for use in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In another release on Thursday, ForceProtection revised downward the value of a services contract from the Marines to $83.6 million from $91.8 million as the firm announced originally.
