Morrisville, N.C. — PC manufacturer Lenovo will build a $10 million “fulfillment center” in the Triad, company officials told Guild County commissioners on Thursday.
At the same time, the company withdrew a request for $154,000 in tax incentives, the Times News in Burlington reported.
The facility will be built in the Rock Creek Center development near Greensboro.
Lenovo has said some 45 jobs will be created initially. Employee headcount could eventually reach 125. Average wages would be $37,500.
Lenovo negotiated with several other counties and states for the center. Wake County in N.C. was among the sites considered. The facility will handle supply, configuration, distribution and some PC assembly.
“Lenovo is committed to this state,” Bill Owens, vice president of service and support for Lenovo, told the commissioners, according to the newspaper. Lenovo’s headquarters are located in Morrisville.
“We are confident that Guilford County is going to play a major role in Lenovo’s future,” he added.
