MARIETTA, Ga. —
Solvay Pharmaceuticals has narrowed its lists of finalists for a $300 million vaccine plant to North Carolina, Georgia, New York and Alabama, according to media reports.
For example, newspapers in Alabama say that state is a finalist for what Alabama officials are calling “Project Bamboo.”
Solvay operates out of Marietta and is a subsidiary of the Belgium-based company Solvay SA. It is expected to pick a plant location early this summer.
North Carolina landed a vaccine plant from Novartis that is being built to meet contracts awarded by the federal government for flu vaccine production. The Novartis facility will be built in Apex.
