Venture update: Chip firms might find opportunities in TV

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Venture-backed semiconductor firms might find opportunities for growth in the TV market, notes Venture Dispatch.
Citing a report from iSuppli, the decreasing costs of LCD panels is enabling manufacturers to focus on new components and features.
“LED technologies are likely to be the biggest beneficiary as that technology replaces fluorescent lamps,” Venture Capital Dispatch reports. “Shipments of televisions with LED backlighting will quadruple this year, according to iSuppli.”
