Windstream completes $643M acquisition of S.C.-based NuVox

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Windstream (NYSE: WIN) has closed on its $643 million acquisition of Greenville-based telecommunications provider NuVox.
Wachoia Capital Partners was among the investors in NuVox, which had raised more than $500 million in venture funding.
Windstream, the landline services provider spun off from Alltel, also has acquired local service providers in Concord and Lexington, N.C.
Formerly known as NewSouth Communications, that firm merged with NuVox in 2004.
