RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Ericsson, which is acquiring much of bankrupt Nortel’s wireless business, plans to retain some 350 Nortel employees, according to the Dallas Business Journal.
Ericsson maintains its North American headquarters in Plano, Texas, which is just north of Dallas.
Ericsson won the bidding for Nortel’s wireless efforts at a price of $1.1 billion.
The newspaper quoted an Ericsson official on the employee transfer. Nortel has some 1,300 employees in Richardson, another Dallas suburb.
Nortel is auctioning off and selling its assets as part of the liquidation process that started soon after the company declared bankruptcy in January.
