Medical hosiery-maker to upgrade N.C. facility, add jobs

RALEIGH, N.C. — A company that makes specialized socks and hosiery for the medical market is going to renovate and expand its Richmond County plant and add 24 jobs, the governor's office announced Tuesday.
Knit-Rite Inc., headquartered in Kansas City, Kan., owns Therafirm Compression Products in Ellerbe. Knit-Rite will invest more than $1.1 million in the facility in a project made possible in part by a $24,000 grant from the One North Carolina Fund, Gov. Beverly Perdue said in an announcement.
“North Carolina remains a favorite choice for successful and expanding manufacturing companies,” Gov. Perdue said. “Our trained workforce and outstanding quality of life continue to attract companies looking for the perfect location to compete in a worldwide marketplace.”
Knit-Rite produces prosthetic and diabetic socks, compression hosiery and orthotic textiles.
