RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Syngenta has hired a former top research executive at rival Bayer CropScience to lead its own R&D efforts in RTP and at another facility in Beijing.
Michiel van Lookeren Campagne joins Syngenta as president of Syngenta Biotechnology.
Both Syngenta and Bayer employ some 400 people in the Triangle.
At Bayer, he was head of bioscience research. Campagne has more than 20 years of experience in bioscience. He holds a doctorate in biology from Leiden University in the Netherlands.
“I am excited to join Syngenta because it is the innovation leader in the industry,” Campagne said in a statement. “The company’s track record in plant biotech, together with its global reach, makes Syngenta uniquely positioned to bring a sustainable pipeline of products and solutions to its customers.
“There are great teams present at both sites, with a culture that is buzzing with creativity and customer-focused drive for innovation, and I look forward to being part of it all,” he added.
