BURLINGTON, N.C. —
Life science firm Becton Dickinson (NYSE: BDX), also known as BD, is adding a new facility and will create 20 new jobs in Mebane, the company said Tuesday.
BD purchased a 100,000 square foot building and seven acres of land for the facility. It plans to invest some $20 million.
BD already operates one facility nearby where it makes cervical cancer screening products. BD acquired that building in 2006 as part of its TriPath Imaging purchase.
"We hope to really have a growing and expanding footprint in Alamance County," said Wayne Brinster, vice president of Becton, Dickinson's Women's Health and Cancer division, told the Burlington Times-News. "We find the workforce to be really good. The community is excellent."
