Raleigh, N.C. — International drug giant Novartis (NYSE: NVS), which is building a vaccine plant in Holly Springs, has made a $625,000 gift to the College of Veterinary Medicine at N.C. State.
The funds will be used for the clinical trials program at the school’s Center for Comparative Medicine and Translational Research.
NCSU will use the funds for a clinical trials veterinarian, a research technician, lab space and equipment. The grant will be spread over five years.
“Clinical studies are integral to the advancement of veterinary medicine,” said Gregg Dean, director of the Center for Comparative Medicine and Translational Research. “Such studies investigate risk factors for disease as well as methods to prevent, treat or cure illnesses that affect both animals and humans. The Novartis gift will fund resources that are critical to helping the CCMTR ensure an effective Clinical Trials Program.”
